Lucas thought I was scheming and seductive.

One day, we both reincarnated, returning to the year before we got married.

He boasted loudly,

I’d rather die alone than ever marry a scheming woman like you again.

But the moment he saw me with another guy, he bawled his eyes out in public.

Baby, please seduce me.

“You can only have me!”

Lucas came home to find me sprawled on the floor.

My backside was facing the door, hips dipped low.

His Adam’s apple bobbed.

Then he let out a scoff, trying to hide something.

“Seriously? Using that old trick again?”

“……”

I reached under the sofa, pulled out my missing hair clip, stood up, and met his gaze.

My expression was calm as I explained.

“You”re overthinking it. I was just grabbing something.”

“Excuses.”

Lucas pouted.

“Sophia, let”s be clear. Our marriage was just a business arrangement between families. I will never have real feelings for you.”

“I know.”

“Good that you know.”

He gave my figure a deliberate, appraising look.

But his gaze lingered way too long.

Finally, he spat out,

“And could you wear proper clothes at home?”

“I told you, I like angelic, pure girls, not your flashy, seductive type.”

???

I glanced down at my perfectly modest long-sleeved pajama set.

The pattern was simple, the fabric completely opaque.

My figure was average, nowhere near “flashy”.

I stated flatly,

“Lucas, maybe you should get your eyes checked.”

“Oh? Trying to make me see how amazing you are?”

“……”

Too tired to deal with my incredibly handsome but utterly insane husband, I headed straight for the bedroom.

My hair swung, releasing its scent.

Lucas’s favorite scent.

He took a deep breath, frowned, and sneered,

“Hah, smooth moves.”

I tucked my hair back as I walked, unintentionally revealing my long, pale neck.

He piped up again.

“Hah, trying to tempt me again.”

“Sophia, you wanna hook me like a fish? Maybe next lifetime.”

“……”

I slammed the bedroom door shut.

My mentally questionable husband muttered and grumbled outside for a while before finally retreating to his own room.

Quiet at last.

Tucked under the covers, I closed my eyes to sleep.

Then, suddenly, rain started pouring outside.

Crack.

A bolt of lightning split the sky.

When I woke up, I realized I’d somehow gone back five years.

Five years ago, I was just starting my junior year of college, not yet married to Lucas.

My Dad had just asked my thoughts about an arranged marriage back then.

Concerned for the family, I hadn’t refused and married Lucas right after graduation.

Three years of a marriage in name only.

This time around…

After a moment’s thought, I called Dad and told him upfront I didn’t want the arranged marriage with the Young family.

Dad listened patiently and agreed.

Thanking him, I grabbed my backpack and left the dorm for class.

On the way, my phone rang.

An unknown number.

But I recognized it belonged to Lucas.

A strange feeling stirred.

At this point in our last life, we weren’t supposed to know each other, let alone have his number.

Could it be…?

I answered, “Hello? Who is this?”

“Sophia, you’re something else.”

Lucas’s furious voice crackled through the phone.

That strange feeling intensified.

“What did I do?”

“You know what! You dared refuse the marriage. I know you’ve come back too, haven’t you?”

“……”

Exactly that.

We’d both reincarnated.

I stated calmly, “Since you didn’t like the marriage in the future, isn’t it better I refused now?”

“I should be the one refusing first!”

He boasted loudly,

“Rest assured, Sophia, I would rather die alone than ever marry a scheming woman like you again.”

“That suits me perfectly.”

We hung up.

But the next day, walking into my class, there was Lucas.

He lounged casually in a seat, sharp profile commanding attention.

He was laughing and chatting with people nearby, drawing covert glances from many girls.

This Lucas was handsome, brash, rebellious, and with his privileged background.

Definitely the campus heartthrob.

But now, he seemed distracted, his eyes constantly darting towards the classroom door til I arrived.

I paused at the sight of him.

Hold on.

Hadn’t he skipped this elective class entirely in the last life?

When his eyes met my indifferent ones, Lucas scowled and deliberately looked away.

He clearly didn’t want to see me.

Ignoring him, I took a seat in the very back row.

Lucas texted me.

[Good. From now on, at school, act like we don’t know each other. We’re strangers.]

I didn’t reply.

Thirty seconds later, another text.

[Sophia, why aren’t you replying? You saw the message.]

I typed:

[You said to act like I don’t know you?]

[……]

[Fine. Good job. You’re something else.]

He sounded to be seething.

I put my phone away, ignoring him.

Just as I pulled out my textbook, a classmate came to me.

He asked shyly,

“Sophia, it”s my birthday today. I’ve got a bunch of people coming over tonight to hang out. Wanna come?”

With nothing better to do, I figured it was time to enjoy being five years younger.

So I nodded.

“Happy Birthday. I’ll come. Just give me the address.”

“I’ll come too.”

Lucas”s voice suddenly cut in.

I looked up. Lucas had appeared nearby.

He struck a lazy pose, hands in pockets, but his mouth was practically twisted off his face, scowling.

The birthday guy looked surprised.

“Lucas, you just said you were busy! Changed your mind?”

“Suddenly realized I’m free. Gotta show support.”

“Awesome! It’ll be even more lit with you there.”

No kidding. With Lucas around, how many beautiful girls would show up?

The birthday guy was thrilled.

He tried to say more to me, but Lucas just slung an arm around his shoulders and steered him away.

“Hell yeah, it’ll be lit. Come on, let’s plan how to make this birthday epic.”

Soon, Lucas texted me.

[Sophia, we’re not getting married this time doesn’t mean you get to cheat on me.]

I replied: [Why not?]

[No reason. At least until I get a girlfriend, you don’t get to date.]

[If I find out you’re dating anyone, I’ll break you up.]

…..

Look what this man said! I smirked silently.

That night, I arrived at the birthday party on time.

Lucas was the center of attention, having a blast.

But seeing me walk in, he hurriedly dropped his ridiculously cocky crossed legs.

Then, looking annoyed, he crossed them again.

I kept my word, didn’t greet him, and sat down among a group of girls.

One familiar face nudged me excitedly,

“Sophia, you said Lucas was like a wild dog, too much trouble to date, so I was gonna give up… but today, I kinda fell for him again.”

Had I really called Lucas a wild dog?

I thought for a second.

Oh yeah, I probably had.

“What did he do today?”

The girl gushed, “He seemed different! Less just plain arrogant, somehow more… mature?”

“So charming~”

“……”

Mature? Obviously.

His soul was five years older!

The future Lucas, though still brash and loud, was practically running half the Young empire. That seriousness was necessary for it.

I smiled vaguely, mumbled a response, then joined their King’s Cup game.

Played sitting on the floor among adults, it inevitably got a little sexy.

Lucas wandered over within minutes.

“Lucas, you playing?”

“Yeah. Just drinking’s boring.”

“Sweet.”

Lucas’s joining ramped up the energy.

Sensing his poorly hidden glances, I still didn’t look at him.

The game started fast.

One guy drew King and grinned,

“Okay, Three kisses Five on the cheek.”

The birthday guy was Five.

I was Three.

Cards revealed, everyone whooped and teased.

The birthday guy blushed,

“Sophia, if you’re uncomfortable, I’ll take two shots.”

“No need. I’m fine.”

I stood up, knelt beside him, and leaned in slowly, counting in my head.

Three.

Two.

One.

“Whoa—!”

“Hey! Lucas, careful!”

A commotion erupted near Lucas, stopping me mid-kiss.

I glanced over.

Lucas seemed to have knocked over someone’s drink, soaking them.

He apologized, but his glare was fixed murderously on me.

“Sorry, man. My bad. I’ll buy you a new one, top shelf, no limit.”

“Whoa! Lucas, you legend!”

“Lucas, spill some on me! I want designer threads too!”

“Sign me up for that deal!”

The room erupted in jokes.

The game was momentarily forgotten.

Only when I sat back down did Lucas allow himself a satisfied smirk.

“Alright, back to the game. Birthday guy rules tonight.”

“Right! Where were we?”

Lucas answered lazily.

“Forgot. Let’s restart.”

“Cool. Lucas says restart.”

The game restarted. “Unluckily”, I kept drawing punishments involving intimacy.

Feed fruit, hug, kiss cheek, sit on lap and flirt…

Every single time, Lucas interfered.

He spilled drink on someone or himself, or created random weird noises.

While others were practically swapping spit, I never completed a single dare.

People noticed something was off.

A girl next to me whispered,

“Sophia, you know Lucas?”

I shook my head. “No.”

“But… it kinda feels like he’s jealous…”

“Does it?”

I looked up, meeting the smug gaze of the guy who’d just sabotaged my “punishment” again.

Finally, in a new round, King declared,

“Seven and Nine make out! Five minutes! Less time, drink shots!”

I was Seven.

Lucas was Nine.

He scoffed dismissively.

“Lame.”

“But I play fair. Kissing is fine.”

He was coming for me, but I stated coolly,

“Lucas might be uncomfortable. I’ll take the penalty. Three shots.”

His face darkened instantly.

“Sophia, I never said I was uncomfortable!”

“So you”re okay with it?”

“Cough. Yeah, totally fine.”

I set the glass down.

“Alright then.”

Lucas practically teleported beside me, blocking the glass path.

Someone scooted over for him.

Amid the cheers, Lucas sat next to me.

It was crowded.

Our knees knocked. I could feel the tension in his thigh muscles.

Last life? We hadn’t even held hands, let alone kissing.

I asked plainly,

“How?”

“Just… like, kiss. Normal.”

His flickering gaze landed on my lips. His throat worked. Yet he didn’t move, still trying to play it cool.

“Okay.”

No hesitation. I turned, placed a hand on his shoulder, and kissed him.

Lucas’s mouth was soft, despite the attitude.

The moment I touched him, he froze.

Blush exploded across his face, down his neck.

Utterly innocent boy he was.

The room roared.

As I lightly kissed his lower lip, I whispered only for him,

“Lucas, kiss properly. We still have to pretend we don’t know each other.”

“!!!”

Lucas snapped back.

Face crimson, he bit my lip in flustered anger.

“Don’t tell me what to do!”

“Ouch—”

I tried to pull back, but he grabbed my nape and kissed me hard.

Honestly? His technique was awful.

“You—”

I opened my mouth to protest. His tongue seized the chance, barging in.
