Content:

On my birthday banquet, my husband and son acted as my loving families.

[Oh, God… Poor Mrs Winston. In her last life, she never found out that Mr Winston kept ten mistresses hidden away!]

[And my own husband is no better — he’s been poisoning her medicine, hoping she’d die early so he could inherit everything!]

However, hearing my daughter-in-law’s inner thoughts, I silently pushed away the birthday gifts they prepared for me.

Then I slapped the two men hard across their faces!

Wilson and my son Warren covered their cheeks, their eyes wide with shock.

The guests around us burst into an uproar.

Before anyone could react, I landed several more stinging slaps across their faces.

“Darling, what do you mean by this?”

“Mom, have you lost your mind?!”

Looking at their swollen, red faces, I clenched my jaw and pretended to be upset.

“I just dozed off and thought I was hitting flies in my dreams… I didn’t realize I was hitting you. Are you both alright?”

Seeing my hand rise again, they flinched and scrambled backward in fear.

Warren quickly spoke up, “Since you’re tired, Madame, let Yvonne help you back to your room for a rest…”

I glanced at Yvonne whose clothes was too thin for the evening chill.

I took off my own coat and draped it over her shoulders.

Yvonne’s eyes widened in surprise.

[I will remember this kindness. In this life, I must protect the Duchess from them!]

My heart softened at her inner voice.

In the past, I had been obsessed with Wilson and Warren, never caring enough about kind-hearted Yvonne.

I was surprised that she would be so grateful just because of a simple coat.

A wave of regret surged within me.

“Yvonne, come with me. We’re going somewhere.”

“Where are we going, Madame?”

I pulled her into the carriage and narrowed my eyes.

“Where exactly are those mistresses my husband has been hiding?”

I had fallen for Wilson at first sight, captivated by his charm and talent.

At coming-of-age, I lowered my status and brought my dowry to marry him when he was still a poor scholar.

My parents cut ties with me because of it, and I became the laughingstock of London’s high society.

But I believed true love conquered all.

Even after losing my family’s protection and luxury, I never regretted my choice.

After marriage, Wilson and I were deeply in love. Within a year, I gave birth to Warren.

I thought I would be happy forever — but Yvonne’s inner voice revealed that Wilson even had another son before we had Warren!

Yvonne stammered nervously, “Madame, please d-don’t be angry. It’s common for men to have mistresses…”

Her words didn’t comfort me. Instead, they fueled my anger and bitterness.

Why are men allowed to wander, while women must remain loyal their whole lives?

Why can men marry and keep other women, while women are scorned for remarrying?!

“It’s not fair!”

The more I thought about it, the angrier I became.

“That’s just how it is for women…” Yvonne wiped her tears. “Madame, let’s not look anymore. Let me take you home.”

I didn’t move. I stared intently at the women coming in and out of the flower shop across the street, who was the most beloved mistress of my husband according to Yvonne.

I had spent my fortune on Wilson’s sweet words and worked like a slave for Warren’s future.

I labored for half my life to pave their way to success and wealth.

And how did they repay me?

Wilson rewarded me with ten mistresses and over twenty illegitimate children!

Warren left me with poisoned tonic, day after day!

I pressed against my aching heart, laughing through tears.

“Heartless bastards! I will make you regret ever crossing me!”

I brought Yvonne back to the estate. The steward came to greet us.

Yvonne’s inner voice whispered:

[If Madame finds out the steward is Mr Winston’s illegitimate son, she’ll be devastated.]

[And he’s been embezzling from the vault more than once… Should I tell Madame?]

“—?!”

I looked down carefully and noticed the steward bore a resemblance to Wilson in his younger days.

Realizing I’d been interacting with that bastard’s son all along, I kicked him down in fury.

I’ve been trained in combat since childhood. That kick sent him flying, blood spraying from his mouth.

“What have I done wrong, Madame? Please, tell me!” the steward cried out in panic.

“Your mistake,” I said coldly, “is appearing in front of me.”

I narrowed my eyes. “Guards! Drag him away and give him fifty strikes!”

“—Wait!” Wilson rushed over.

“He’s just a servant, darling. There’s no need to make a scene.”

“Besides, you haven’t been well lately. Let him go — consider it an act of kindness for your own sake.”

I sneered inwardly, noticing the hidden rage and concern in his eyes.

“Don’t say another word, dear husband. If I don’t punish him today, I’ll punish every servant here!”

The servants trembled in fear. Yvonne’s eyes darted around nervously.

[Oh no! Does Madame discover that half the stewards and accountants are Father’s children?!]

Yvonne’s inner voice almost made me spit blood.

“Th-they will all be punished — every one of them!”

As my voice echoed, the courtyard filled with cries of agony.

Wilson watched his children being punished, his heartache written all over his face. He couldn’t hold back his anger anymore.

“Sophia, you vicious—”

Before he could finish, I slapped him hard across the face.

“You — how dare you hit me?!”

“I’ll hit you if I want to. Since when do I need your permission?” I smiled coldly.

“Did you forget that this is my estate? Whether I punish servants — or you — no one dares to question me!”

Wilson shrank back at my words, then quickly put on a flattering expression.

“I-I spoke out of turn just now, darling. Please forgive me… I have official documents waiting in the study. I must take my leave.”

[Liar! His position is practically honorary — otherwise, how would he have so much free time to raise mistresses outside?]

Yvonne’s inner voice chimed in at the perfect moment.

I clenched my fists.

“— Guards! Drag him away and whip him!”

With Yvonne’s help, I rooted out everyone in the estate connected to Wilson.

I also reported the steward to the authorities for theft.

News of me punishing Wilson spread like wildfire before midday.

Warren returned home humiliated and angry. He didn’t dare confront me, so he took it out on Yvonne.

During dinner, I noticed fresh whip marks on her arms and slammed my utensils down.

“You monster! A wife is someone to cherish, not to torture!”

Warren glared at me. “You’re overreacting, Mom. Yvonne is my wife — why would I hurt her? She fell… Isn’t that right, Yvonne?”

Yvonne held her arm weakly and nodded.

“Madame, I really did this to myself. It has nothing to do with Warren.”

But her inner voice clearly said Warren had been beating and abusing her.

I looked at Yvonne, frustrated by her submissiveness, then threw a teacup at Warren’s head.

“You wretched boy! Do you think I’m a fool?! Apologize to Yvonne now!”

But Warren didn’t move an inch.

I figured he was still angry about me punishing Wilson.

“Apologize to her? If it weren’t for the fact that her father once saved my life, a plain girl like her wouldn’t even be fit to shine my shoes!”

I slammed the table.

“She’s not good enough for you? You haven’t even passed the basic civil exams in ten years! Look at yourself — what have you accomplished?!”

Warren’s face turned red with humiliation.

I saw his fists clench tightly. “What? Are you thinking of hitting me?!”

What chilled me was that Warren didn’t deny it. His eyes burned with pure hatred.

“Madame, it’s all my fault. Please don’t be angry…” Yvonne begged.

“Ugh! You fake, pathetic woman!”

Warren finally found an outlet for his rage and kicked Yvonne away.

“Women like you are nothing but trouble! You all need to be put in your place!”

Furious, I called the servants to bind Warren.

I whipped him until he cried out in pain.

“How could you choose an outsider over your own son?!”

“An outsider? Sure — to men like you, women who marry in will always be outsiders!”

I gripped the whip tightly. “You said women are nothing but trouble? Well, let me tell you what we’re really good at: punishing bastards who try to hurt us!”

Warren had been spoiled, barely training for strength.

I beat him relentlessly until Yvonne couldn’t bear it anymore and begged me to stop.

“Madame, please! You can’t let my unborn child grow up without a father!”

Her words made both Warren and me freeze.

I was overjoyed that she was pregnant, but Warren looked disgusted.

“Dammit, why now? If Dad finds out, he’ll…”

Hearing his muttering, I narrowed my eyes.
