I spent my whole life locked in a vicious battle with the fake heiress, Isabella. She had men assault me, I had her face slashed. In the end, we died together in a fiery car crash she orchestrated
When our parents came to collect our bodies, they were practically beaming, muttering, Finally! Those two worthless bitches are dead. No more acting!
Floating there as souls, the fake heiress and I finally understood. We were just pawns.
Their useless, good-for-nothing son was their loved child.
The assault, the disfigurement—it was all them, meticulously planned and framed to pit us against each other, all to drive the company’s growth.
And when they didn’t need us anymore, they meticulously planned our deaths.
Then, I opened my eyes. Both the fake heiress and I had been reborn.
We swore to make that family pay in blood.
…
“Was it you, you bitch! Did you sabotage my dress to humiliate me at the banquet tonight?”
I roared, grabbing Isabella Montgomery by the collar. The next second, my body swayed, phantom pain tearing through my nerves. A wild, fierce joy surged in my eyes.
I was reborn!
My eyes met Isabella’s, I saw the same shock mirrored there. Instantly, I knew. She was reborn too!
In our past life, Isabella was the elegant, capable heiress. I was the prodigy drone researcher.
After I was “found” and brought back to the Montgomery family, we fought tooth and nail for our parents’ love and the inheritance.
A single comment from Dad about the company struggling, and I’d break my back developing new products. Isabella used her management skills and connections to run the company like clockwork.
And we destroyed each other in the process, using every dirty trick to drive the other out.
She orchestrated my violation. I arranged her disfigurement. Finally, she drove her car straight into mine, ending it all.
In death, watching our parents’ gleeful faces, we learned the truth. From the very start, Isabella and I were just disposable pieces.
They deliberately pitted us against each other, setting us up and framing the other, making us fight to the death. Then, they’d toss us crumbs of affection, making each of us believe we were their favorite daughters.
Once they’d used us to develop the company, they disposed of us, the real and the fake heiress, ready to hand everything over to their useless son—Kyle Montgomery!
All along, Isabella and I were just stepping stones for Kyle, sacrificing our brilliant futures for his sake.
“Jacqueline, Isabella would never do something so vile! You must be mistaken.”
Kyle piped up, his face the picture of innocence, his words dripping with excuses for Isabella.
Dad, standing nearby, added, “he investigation is clear! It was the maid. She’s being fired today. Let this matter end here!”
Hearing those familiar lines, I realized it was right after the Montgomery family gala. My dress had torn apart in front of everyone, humiliating me utterly!
After the party, I discovered Isabella was behind it and confronted her immediately. But Mom, Dad, and my biological brother all shielded her, fueling my rage and hurt.
That night, I decided to disown them. But then Dad came to my room, crying, saying he knew the truth but couldn’t expose Isabella because she controlled the company and the family depended on her.
He wept, calling himself useless, saying he failed to protect me.
Naively, in my past life, I believed him. I swore to him I’d take back our family company from that outsider, Isabella!
From then on, Isabella and I fought ruthlessly. Only after death did we learn the dress incident was entirely our parents’ doing.
Locking eyes with Isabella, years of adversarial understanding kicked in. We instantly started performing.
Isabella wrenched my hand away, grabbed a water glass, and flung it in my face, her gaze dripping with contempt.
“So what if I did? I despise you!”
“As long as I’m here, you’ll never have peace!”
She strode out with haughty steps, while I glared daggers at her retreating back.
“The Montgomery fortune is mine! You fake will be thrown out sooner or later!” I snarled.
Out of the corner of my eye, I caught the flash of triumph in our parents’ eyes, celebrating their successful scheme.
That night, just like before, Dad found me. He wept about his suffering and helplessness. Mimicking my past self, I promised him I’d win back the company.
Shortly after he left, Isabella arrived. Her expression was still haughty, her words cutting.
“Jacqueline Chase. Even a fool like you managed to get reborn?”
I shot back without mercy, “And you, the smart one? Played like a fiddle and died just as miserably.”
Isabella fell silent for a moment, then murmured, “True. We’re both intelligent. How did we get duped so completely?”
“Desperation for love, maybe. They offered scraps, and we fought like starving dogs for them” I gave a bitter, self-mocking laugh.
Only after death, overhearing their conversations, did I learn Isabella had been adopted from an orphanage as a PR stunt for their company image.
Years of manipulation and a deep craving for belonging had made her blindly trust them.
As for me? I was kidnapped as a child and raised in a foster home where I was unloved, living like dirt. I clawed my way out of that hellhole through sheer brains and help from strangers.
When they “found” me, I didn’t want anything to do with them. But they put on an Oscar-worthy performance, showering me with care for two whole years.
Eventually, my defenses crumbled, and I agreed to return.
Now it was clear. They’d targeted me for my talent, using faux familial bonds to chain me to their service.
“So, what’s your plan now?” Isabella asked, feigning nonchalance.
“Revenge. And taking back what’s mine!” I said coldly. “The company skyrocketed solely because of my research breakthroughs!”
“Same here. The company is my life’s work. This time, that parasite Kyle isn’t getting a free ride!” Isabella gritted her teeth.
“So… partners?”
The next morning at breakfast, Kyle looked over, his expression timid and ingratiating. “Jacqueline? You promised a couple of days ago I could visit your lab, learn the ropes.”
“When can I go?”
His words sent a jolt through me. Kyle had flunked numerous courses in college. He shouldn’t have been anywhere near the lab.
But past me, fooled by his act, had begged my professor to let him visit.
Then, the day before the big product launch, I was violated. Kyle and his buddy Connor claimed credit for my work, becoming the hotshot research geniuses.
Stunned and broken, swayed by my parents’ tears and manipulations, I let the lie stand. They subtly blamed Isabella, and I threw myself into destroying her, abandoning my own dreams.
his lifetime? Set foot in my lab? Over my dead body. Again.
I put on a regretful face. “Kyle, it’s not that I don’t want to help.”
“But you failed eight undergrad courses. The professor won’t allow it!”
“Besides, academics aren’t really your thing. We’re wealthy. Just enjoy life.”
“Didn’t Mom and Dad say they’d hand the company to me? Don’t worry, your dividends and allowance will be generous.” I spoke with utter sincerity, watching with satisfaction as all three of their faces twitched.
Mom forced a smile. “Jacqueline, honey, Kyle’s still young and inexperienced. You’re his big sister, you should guide him.”
“You’re siblings, you should support each other.”
“No need. Honestly, I can’t stand fools.” I wiped my mouth and stood. “Intelligence is innate, it doesn’t magically grow with age.”
“Mom, Dad, you need to face facts. Kyle just isn’t cut out for it. Let him be a rich, idle heir.”
“As his sister, I’ll make sure he’s well taken care of for life.”
“Oh, and Dad? You said when I came home, you’d give me five percent of the company shares. I printed the contract last night. Since we have time now, let’s sign.”
Ignoring Kyle’s livid, contorted expression, I placed the pre-printed contract in front of Dad, smiling sweetly.
Last life, their sweet talk kept me from ever getting those shares. Not this time.
Dad stared at the contract, his smile strained.
“Dad? You weren’t just saying that, were you? That you don’t really care about your real daughter?”
“If I have nothing, how can I possibly compete with that impostor, Isabella?”
“Maybe I should just focus on my research.” I didn’t let him speak, my voice low but my tone sharp.
“Jacqueline, how could you think that? You’re Daddy’s favorite girl. I’ll sign right now.” Dad managed a paternal smile, his hand trembling as he signed and thumbprinted.
I swiftly gathered both copies, beaming. “Thanks, Dad. Don’t worry, I’ll get that fake Isabella out of this house.”
Not long after leaving, I heard the distinct sound of shattering glass. Clearly, all three were furious.
A satisfied smile curved my lips. These parasites needed me now. They wouldn’t dare cross me.
Perfect timing to squeeze them for everything they had.
