I decided it was time to hit the gym and shed the extra pounds I’d packed on during vacation.
My brother, Leo, just opened a new high-end fitness centersuper exclusive and secure.
Word was the trainers were top-tier, so I had to check it out for myself.
He wasn’t there when I arrived, but he’d thoughtfully arranged for a “gentle” female trainer to assist me.
Right off the bat, her attitude was foul.
She muttered under her breath,
“Ugh, boss tells me to train his little side piece. Disgusting!”
I looked at her strangely. “So, coach, where do we start?”
I’ve never had proper training, so I genuinely needed her guidance.
She snapped, “You don’t even know the basics? Why are you even here? With a waistline like that, you shouldn’t bother.”
I was stunned. Was she calling me fat? I’m not skinny, but I’m not huge either.
“What’s your problem?” I fired back.
Before she could answer, there was a sharp cracka searing pain shot through my arm.
She’d yanked my arm back hard without any warning.
“Ah!” I grabbed my arm, tears welling up. “What was that for? You didn’t even say anything! Are you even qualified?”
She said flatly, “It’s just stretching. Don’t be so dramatic. It won’t kill you.”
“I paid for this session! And you’re not even professional! I haven’t warmed up yet!”
She smirked.
“Paid? With whose money? Yours, or some sugar daddy’s? Don’t play innocenttrying to steal someone’s man. If you can’t handle a little pain, how will you survive when the wife comes for you?”
I was furious. “Who are you calling a mistress?!”
She rolled her eyes.
“Oh, not yet? But you want to be, right? Suddenly hitting the gym to get a hot body and seduce someonr? Stop pretending to be innocent. You’re a fox, not a lily.”
I was speechless. Honestly, I almost laughed. Unbelievable.
“Clearly you don’t want to train me. Get me someone else.”
But she forced me onto a bench and kept “stretching” me aggressively.
I tried to get up but couldn’t.
My cries of pain were mistaken for workout groans.
I had to choice but to go along with her moves.
After the brutal stretching, she led me to the weight room and told me to pick something.
I grabbed a dumbbell, mimicked a pose I’d seen online, and waited for her to correct me.
But guess what? She was glued to her phone.
I glanced at her name tag, Jessica Smith.
“Jessica, I hired you to coach me, not to scroll through Instagram!”
She gave an annoyed eye-roll. “Your form’s fine. Do you need me to stare at you? Fine.”
She put her phone into her waistband and aggressively adjusted my posture, increasing the weight relentlessly.
My arms trembled, forced to push against heavier and heavier resistance.
“I need a break…” I was drenched in sweat and utterly exhausted, letting the weight drop.
She ignored me, slapping an even heavier dumbbell into my already weak hand.
The sudden weight made me fumbleit crashed to the floor with a loud bang.
I jumped back just in time to avoid it crushing my feet.
“Ah!” Jessica barely dodged it herself. That would’ve broken her foot.
Luckily, it only rolled near her sneakers.
“Why didn’t you hold it properly? You could’ve seriously hurt me!” she yelled, her face flushed with anger.
Just then, my brother Leo walked into the gym.
“What’s going on here?”
Jessica played the victim. “This lady seems to have a problem with me. Maybe I’m not good enough for her.”
Leo nodded, completely missing her sarcasm.
“She can be picky. You’re new. It’s understandable if you can’t handle her.”
Jessica had expected sympathy, but my brother’s blunt response left her speechless. She stood there looking utterly ridiculous, on the verge of fake tears.
I picked up the fallen dumbbell, shoved it into Leo’s hands, and smiled sweetly,
“Big bro, her instructions make no sense. How about you coach me yourself?”
Jessica was unceremoniously pushed aside, fuming silently. She couldn’t believe itLeo, who never personally trained womenwas actually going to train me!
And I called him “big bro”? She’d never gotten to call him that!
I caught her jealous glare in the wall mirror. So satisfying.
When I went to the front desk to pay, Leo stopped me. “You don’t pay at my place. Use my membership card.”
I grinned pointedly at Jessica. “But Coach Jessica doesn’t seem to like that arrangement.”
She forced a smile. “No, it’s just… the boss’s card is almost out of balance…”
Leo said, “No big deal. I’ll top it up.”
Jessica paled. “Okay.”
I left the gym humming, eager to get home and shower after all that sweat.
But Jessica followed me outside. “You little witch! Stay away from Leo!”
Leo is my actually brother.
I laughed. For a fitness coach, she had surprisingly little muscle tone.
In her tight yoga outfits, she looked like a delicate flowerbut rotten at the core.
“And who are you to warn me? Who I spend time with is none of your business!”
“He’s mine! Back off! He’d never like someone like you.”
“Psycho!” I turned to leave.
What does she mean “someone like me”? She’d never be my sister-in-law, that was for sure.
She stepped in front of me and slapped me hard across the face.
I stumbled, my overstretched arm hitting the ground. Sharp pain shot through my shoulder.
My palm was scraped raw. Furious, I got up and slapped her back with my good hand. I’d been wanting to do that since she dropped that weight on me.
I’m not a pushover.
“What’s wrong with you?” I walked away, shaking.
She screamed after me, “If I see you near Leo again, you’ll regret it!”
The next day, I went to the hospitalmy arm had ached all night.
After a therapeutic massage, I stopped by a nearby shopping mall.
I ran into my college friend, Chloe, who was alone buying maternity clothes after a doctor’s appointment.
I decided to join her since I needed to find a gift for my nephew’s upcoming full moon party.
The mall was crowded. Early pregnancy requires extra caution.
While waiting for Chloe to try clothes, I heard a sharp voice, “You?”
I looked up. It was Jessica.
I ignored her, focusing on browsing through the maternity section.
But she wouldn’t let it go.
“Why are you here? Buying maternity clothes? You’re pregnant? Whose kid is it? How dare you flirt with Leo while carrying some random man’s child? You’re disgusting!”
How does her mind work this way?
“Are you insane? This is none of your business!”
Jessica’s eyes lit up with malicious excitement.
She yelled to the crowd,
“Everyone, look! This home-wrecker was hitting on my boyfriend last night! She even hit me! And now she’s buying slutty maternity wear? What kind of woman dresses like this while pregnant? She’s probably entertaining all sorts of clients!”
She shoved my shoulder hard. I stumbled backward.
Shoppers gathered around us, pointing and whispering.
“Such a pretty face, but what a shame.”
“Pregnant and still dressing like that? She’s clearly asking for attention.”
I looked at the clothesthey were just lightweight for comfort. Since when is that “slutty”?
I was shaking with anger. This was public slander.
Chloe emerged from the fitting room. “Stop spreading lies! What you’re doing is illegal!”
Jessica sneered, “Oh, a sidekick? You know it’s shameful, so you brought backup? Or are you in the same business? Stay away from meI don’t want your diseases!”
Even the store staff were looking at us with disgust.
“Jessica, shut your mouth! I’m calling the police!” I reached for my phone.
Jessica tried to snatch it. “If you didn’t do anything wrong, why be scared? You chose to ruin familiesyou deserve to be shamed!”
“Stop!” During the the struggle, Chloetrying to protect her bellywas pushed hard by Jessica.
“Ah! My stomach… it hurts…” Chloe collapsed, her face pale, a dark pool of blood spreading beneath under her.
“Chloe! Somebody call an ambulance!” I helped support her, ignoring Jessica completely.
The crowd backed away nervously. The store clerk immediately called 911.
Luckily, the mall was near the hospital. Help arrived quickly.
Jessica tried to run, but I grabbed her wrist. “I’ve already called the police. If anything happens to Chloe’s baby, you’ll pay for this!”
Jessica regained her composure, her eyes cold. “She deserved it! I did society a favor. That child wouldn’t have had a proper father anyway!”
