I was the fake heiress.

When the real heiress was welcomed back into the family, I did everything I could to make her life miserablespreading rumors, setting traps.

Later, driven to despair, the real heiress took her own life.

At her funeral, I was kidnapped and tortured to death in an excruciatingly cruel way.

When I woke up again, I realized I was actually the vicious female supporting character in a novel.

While the real heiress was the male lead’s unattainable first love, forever out of reach.

I had been reborn to the night before the real heiress came home.

In a dream, I saw everything clearly.

The female lead, Eloise John, was switched at birth by someone with ill intentions.

She grew up in hardship and poverty, and was finally recognized and brought back home.

Just as her life was about to turn around, I, as the vicious female supporting character, slandered her, bullied her, and abused her.

Until she couldn’t take it anymore and chose to end her life.

Only after she died did I learn that while I was tormenting her, she was also enduring relentless bullying at school.

At her funeral, I was finally consumed by regret.

And that same day, the male lead kidnapped me, killed me with his own hands, then dismembered me and fed me to the dogs.

Then he ended his own life, in the same way as the female lead C he jumped off a building.

Before he died, he wrote one line on the rooftop ledge, I could have endured the darkness, if only I had never seen the light.

I wiped the tears from my face, letting out a soft sigh as I got up.

What a classic tragic ending.

Dawn broke.

In two hours, the real heiress would arrive.

I’m sorry, Eloise. I was wrong.

This time, I’ll repay everything I owe you.

And those who bullied you? I’ll make sure they get exactly what they deserve.

When Eloise arrived, I was in my room packing up my jewelry and designer bags.

In my past life, terrified she’d take everything from me, I’d falsely accused her of stealing my necklace the very day after she arrived.

Eloise was timid and meek, she never fought back.

Thinking about it now filled me with even more guilt.

I wanted to give her everything I had of value.

Knock knock knock.

My brother knocked on the door. “Vivian, Eloise is here. Mom wants you to come down.”

“Got it, Vincent. I will be right there.”

I set aside the things I’d gathered, hurried downstairs, and saw Eloise standing shyly beside Mom, just like before.

My heart ached painfully.

Past memories rushed back. I forced a stiff smile. You’re here.

Mom placed my hand on Eloise’s, smiling warmly. “Eloise, Vivian. From now on, you’re sisters.”

After speaking, she looked at me with deep concern.

“Vivian, Eloise has suffered a lot, it hasn’t been easy. Mom hopes you two can get along well, okay?”

As a mother, of course she wanted harmony.

I nodded. “Mom, I understand.”

I briefly avoided my mother’s gaze and reached for Eloise’s suitcase.

“Come on, Eloise, let me show you to your room first.”

Eloise softly tried to stop me.

“Oh, you don’t have to, Vivian. It’s a bit heavy.” She spoke softly.

I shook my head. “It’s fine, I’ve got it.”

“She can handle it,” Vincent cut in. “She’s crazy strong .”

What the hell?

I shot Vincent look.

“Seriously, super strong. Don’t doubt me.”

I rolled my eyes.

He was clueless, grinning like an idiot. “Hey Eloise, right? I got you a welcome gift. Once you’re settled, come to my room to get it.”

“Oh, and my room’s right next to yours.”

Eloise’s voice was barely a whisper. “Okay.”

I walked straight behind her and lifted the suitcase.

As I lifted it, I frowned.

You call this heavy, silly girl?

Just how much hardship have you endured?

Mom and Dad walked Eloise to her room, then left to prepare a special homemade meal. They wanted her to feel at home.

That was the same reason I started resenting her in my past life.

After our parents left, I took Eloise’s hand and sat her down.

“I got you some welcome gifts too, in my room. We’ll go get them together in a bit.”

“No, no, you really don’t have to. Just being back here is more than enough.”

I wasn’t sure if she truly felt she was home, but Eloise’s eyes were slightly red-rimmed.

I smiled and ruffled her hair, silently cursing myself.

Vivian Taylor, you were a monster!

Eloise has suffered so much, and you still bullied her!

You bastard!

You didn’t deserve to live!

I turned away so she wouldn’t see my wet eyes, took a deep breath, and said, You get unpacked. I’ll come back in a bit.

Back in my room, I stared at the gifts, lost in thought.

I never actuallymeant for her to die.

All I wanted was to scare her, to make her leave.

I never intended for her to die.

How could I

Be so evil?

But I’ve been given a second chance.

Eloise, I’m sorry.

I’ll pay back what I owe you.

Eloise knocked while I was still lost in thought.

“Come in, it’s open.”

Eloise peeked in cautiously.

“Vivian, can I come in?”

“Of course you can! Why wouldn’t you? You’re my sister now. My room is always open to you.” I picked up a jewelry box. This is for you. Everything inside is yours.

Eloise waved her hands.

“This it’s too much, I can’t accept it.”

“Take it.”

I firmly pushed the box into her hands.

“If you don’t take it, it means you don’t see me as family.”

I pulled out a few credit cards, casually stuffing them into my pocket. “Come on, let’s go get the gift from Vincent.”

Unlike Eloise’s timid knock, I pounded on Vincent’s door.

“Vincent Taylor, open up! Eloise and I are here for her gift!”

Remembering what Vincent had prepared, I almost laughed.

Vincent opened the door, looking exasperated. “You can get the gift without assaulting my door!”

Heh, no way!

I planted one hand on my hip like a little tyrant, the other thrust out towards him.

“No. I. Can’t.”

“Where’s Eloise’s gift?”

Vincent sighed like an old man. “Come in and get it.”

Eloise stepped inside, saw where Vincent pointed, and froze.

“Barbie Barbie dolls?”

I already knew Vincent had gotten Barbie dolls.

While a bit childish for my taste, but for Eloise, it was perfect.

I understood Vincent’s intention.

She never had a real childhood, never even had toys.

He wanted to give her a piece of that back.

I smiled, watching Eloise hold the dolls with obvious delight.

Then I turned to Vincent. “That’s it? Nothing else?”

Where’s the car key? Hand it over!

“Here.”

Vincent handed Eloise a set of keys.

“Car’s in the underground garage. It’s pink. I thought you’d love it.”

I chimed in, “Take it. We’ll go for a drive sometime.”

Eloise took the keys, biting her lip.

“But I don’t have a driver’s license.”

“No problem,” Vincent said. ” You’ve got a year before college. Get it then. The car’s yours now.”

After Vincent finished, I nodded vigorously.

“Yeah, yeah, he’s right.”

Vincent wolled his eyes at me.

I ignored him, looping my arm through one of Eloise’s.

“Come on, back to your room.”

Once there, she hugged her gifts tightly. “Thank you, Vivian.”

I waved it off. “Don’t mention it.”

Then I pulled out the cards and pressed them into her hand before she could protest.

If you need money, just ask me, okay?

At lunch, Eloise sat beside me.

Mom and Dad chatted, and the conversation turned to Eloise’s schooling.

“Eloise, Dad thought about transferring you, but you’re a senior now. Switching schools might disrupt your studies. So, how about you stay at your current school, Prestige Academy? ”

Eloise actually lived in the same city as us.

But we were downtown, while she lived way out in the distant suburbs.

Her middle school grades were good enough for our top public school, Crestwood High, but she chose Prestige Academy instead.

Because Prestige Academy promised her a full-ride scholarship and a living stipend, on the condition she maintained her grades.

I only learned this after my death, from him.

“Vivian Taylor, you are nothing but a murderer.”

“You don’t deserve forgiveness.”

Remembering this, I stole a glance at Eloise.

Eloise was too timid to say anything.

She whispered meekly, “Whatever Dad thinks”

I cut in loudly.

“Dad! I have a favor to ask!”

Before he could respond, I continued. “Dad, you don’t know this, but I don’t really have friends at Crestwood. No one wants to hang out with me. Now that Eloise is back, I want to be with her. Could I transfer schools? To Prestige?”

Dad frowned.

“No, education isn’t something to play around with.”

I put on my best pitiful expression.

“Dad”

I shot Vincent a look across the table.

Vincent’s expression was like: Huh? What?

Though clearly confused by my request, he backed me up anyway. “Dad, Vivian really doesn’t have many friends at Crestwood. Let her go with Eloise.”

“No, don’t!” Eloise looked panicked. “Vivian, you shouldn’t come with me.”

Mom tugged at Dad’s sleeve.

This was a chance for us to bond quickly.

“Fine, it’s settled! Even if your dad says no, I say yes!”

“You two should get along well, okay?”

I agreed.

The meal felt strained.

Mainly because Eloise seemed distracted.

After lunch, Eloise quietly tugged my sleeve and led me to a corner.

“Vivian, please, don’t come with me.”

“I I Just don’t come to my class.”

“Oh?” I found it darkly amusing. “Why?”

Eloise pressed her lips together, silent.

I couldn’t help but pat her head again.

“It’s okay, Eloise.”

“No matter what happens, I will protect you.”

After seeing Eloise back to her room, Vincent pulled me into another corner.

“Tell me the real reason. I don’t buy that no friends’ excuse. Couldn’t you come up with a better lie?”

I hissed back, “Not telling.”

Seeing his serious expression, I straightened up.

“Because I had someone look into her. Turns out, she’s being bullied at school.”

“I’m going there to protect her. o one gets to mess with Eloise.”

Vincent looked incredulous.

“Bullying? Impossible.” Then, thinking of her shy nature, he nodded. Well, with her personality, I guess it’s possible

“Should’ve said something sooner. I could have helped too. Maybe I should transfer?”

I almost yelled.

“Are you out of your mind? You’re starting your senior year of college! How would you transfer? Drop down to high school? That’s insane!”

“Oh. Right.” Vincent mumbled.

I didn’t want to deal with him anymore and turned to leave.
